LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob
of Albany, New York

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob of Albany, New York; this auspi-
cious occasion will be celebrated at the synagogue's annual dinner to
benefit expanded programming, to be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at
Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A past President of Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob, Beverly
Shor is a long time pillar of the Capital District's Jewish community;
and
WHEREAS, Beverly Shor is a lifetime board member of Congregation Beth
Abraham-Jacob and has served in every leadership post of the synagogue,
including two separate terms as its President; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her official duties with Congregation Beth
Abraham-Jacob, Beverly Shor has been one of the key leaders of the team
that manages the synagogue's bingo fundraiser; she has also chaired the
synagogue Kiddush committee for many years and led the youth committee;
and
WHEREAS, Committed to her life's work for the Jewish community, Bever-
ly Shor nurtured and cared for many children for several years at a time
when there were few options for working parents; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Shor now devotes her professional life to managing
the operations of the Vaad HaKashruth of the Capital District, helping
to insure that the community has access to high quality kosher food and
establishments; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Beverly Shor has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the respect
and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Beverly Shor has displayed through-
out her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob of Albany, New York; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Beverly Shor.
