LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Tessa Zeman upon the occasion of
being honored for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Schol-
ars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Tessa
Zeman upon the occasion of being honored for her outstanding scholastic
achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner, on Wednesday, May 8,
2013, at the Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote speaker was Dr.
Susan Scrimshaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the exceptional
academic accomplishments of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students based on their scho-
larship, leadership, and service to their schools and communities; the
students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their lives in
a significant way; and
WHEREAS, A student at the Albany Academies, Tessa Zeman has achieved
great academic success and has demonstrated prodigious leadership abili-
ties in both her school and the larger community; and
WHEREAS, Tessa Zeman is an active member of the Girls Leadership
Institute, Student Government and a variety of other clubs and organiza-
tions; her many community service initiatives include a year-long
fundraising effort to help save wildlife in the Gulf, as well as a
summer trip to Haiti to help build a bottle school; and
WHEREAS, Tessa Zeman has drawn particular inspiration from teacher
Stephen Brown, who makes every day in his classroom memorable; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments,
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and
parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Tessa Zeman upon the occasion of being honored for her
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tessa Zeman.
