LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating June Criscione upon the occasion
of being honored for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scho-
lars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate June
Criscione upon the occasion of being honored for her outstanding scho-
lastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013, at
the Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote speaker was Dr. Susan
Scrimshaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the outstanding
scholastic achievement of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students to recognize their
scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities;
the students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their
lives in a significant way; and
WHEREAS, A student at Albany High School, June Criscione is the quin-
tessential student with a quiet confidence about her; she has demon-
strated leadership in her academics as well as her extracurricular
activities over the course of her high school career; and
WHEREAS, June Criscione is an International Baccalaureate candidate
and President of the National Honor Society; this year, she holds the
honor of Concert Master of the Empire State Youth Orchestra; she is also
part of Varsity Masterminds, Model UN, Debate Team and Student Govern-
ment; and
WHEREAS, June Criscione credits her mathematics teacher, Margot Pluma-
dore for inspiring her; "Ms. P." believes in being more than an innova-
tive and motivating teacher, she also truly believes in her students'
capabilities and guides them to new challenges; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate June Criscione upon the occasion of being honored for her
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to June Criscione.
