LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jamie Rosen upon the occasion of
being honored for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Schol-
ars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Jamie
Rosen upon the occasion of being honored for her outstanding scholastic
achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013, at the
Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote speaker was Dr. Susan Scrim-
shaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the outstanding
scholastic achievement of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students to recognize their
scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities;
the students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their
lives in a significant way; and
WHEREAS, A student at Bethlehem High School, Jamie Rosen is not only
an accomplished scholar who has maintained a stellar average, she is
also extremely well-rounded; she has been involved with athletics,
community service, and various school activities; and
WHEREAS, Jamie Rosen has received several awards for her excellence in
school, service and leadership, which has led to some outstanding growth
experiences, including a program in Washington, DC and being selected
for the United States Senate Youth Program; and
WHEREAS, She was named a New York State delegate where she took the
initiative to be involved and ended up securing a summer internship in
the Senate; Jamie credits her teacher, Eileen Turo for inspiring her,
and showing her that passion is the key to getting the most out of both
one's education and one's life; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jamie Rosen upon the occasion of being honored for her
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jamie Rosen.
