LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating John Kenna upon the occasion of
being honored for his outstanding scholastic achievement at the Schol-
ars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate John
Kenna upon the occasion of being honored for his outstanding scholastic
achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013, at the
Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote speaker was Dr. Susan Scrim-
shaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the outstanding
scholastic achievement of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students to recognize their
scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities;
the students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their
lives in a significant way; and
WHEREAS, John Kenna, a student at Rensselaer Jr./Sr. High School, is
ranked first in his class with a G.P.A. of 97.12; he is a driven student
who values education and is enthusiastic about learning; he is a student
involved in many activities who is able to multi-task and successfully
complete what he sets out to accomplish; and
WHEREAS, At school, he has participated in Literary Magazine, Student
Council and Varsity Baseball; he is a member of the National Honor Soci-
ety, he is also the Senior Class President and, this past year, he was
selected to attend Boys State; and
WHEREAS, John Kenna proudly named Laura Frasco as a teacher who influ-
enced his life in a significant way, noting Mrs. Frasco has been a posi-
tive influence on him as a teacher and has inspired him to go into the
field of Political Science; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate John Kenna upon the occasion of being honored for his
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Kenna.
