LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Taylor Methe upon the occasion of
being honored for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Schol-
ars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is justly
proud to congratulate Taylor Methe upon the occasion of being honored
for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition
Dinner, May 8, 2013, at the Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote
speaker was Dr. Susan Scrimshaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the outstanding
scholastic achievement of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students to recognize their
scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities;
the students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their
lives in a significant way; and
WHEREAS, Taylor Methe, a student at Shaker High School, has received
numerous accolades including The Harvard Book Award, National Merit
Commended Scholar, and induction into the National Honor Society and the
Tri-M Music Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, She was selected to represent her school at the Microsoft
Technology Conference for her ability in math and science and has also
taken part in numerous selective vocal groups; she is a dedicated member
of the school service club and runs Cross Country and Indoor Track; and
WHEREAS, Taylor Methe proudly named Karen Amedio as a teacher who
influenced her life in a significant way, noting that Mrs. Amedio's
every action inspires passion and excellence; she taught Taylor Methe
graciousness, confidence, and most importantly, the determination to
pursue the things she loves; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Taylor Methe upon the occasion of being honored for her
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Taylor Methe.
