LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ethan Usoskin upon the occasion of being
selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education
All-Eastern Honors Band

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the dedi-
cation and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ethan Usoskin upon the occasion of being selected to participate in the
National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Band; he
will perform at the biennial concert, to be held in Hartford, Connecti-
cut, on Sunday, April 7, 2013; and
WHEREAS, With the assistance of his music teacher Mr. Mark Brenner,
Ethan Usoskin, a Schreiber High School Junior, will prepare remarkably
challenging music and perform under the leadership of a prominent
conductor in this biennial event; and
WHEREAS, Ethan Usoskin was selected to partake in the New York State
Music Association All-State concert in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being chosen to play Bb clarinet, Ethan Usos-
kin was an alternate on the Eb clarinet; and
WHEREAS, While in Rochester, Ethan Usoskin sat first chair/concert
master and was a featured soloist in the All-State Symphonic Band under
the direction of Professor Anthony Maiello, from James Mason University;
and
WHEREAS, For the last two years, Ethan Usoskin has earned a Merit
Scholarship to attend USDAN, a summer program for the performing arts;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding performance ability, Ethan
Usoskin is an aspiring composer, currently enrolled in Schreiber High
School's Advance Placement Music Theory Course; and
WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ethan Usoskin upon the occasion of being selected to participate
in the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Band;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ethan Usoskin.
