LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring FDNY EMTs Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alex-
ander, in recognition of their heroic actions in coming to the aid of an
NYPD officer who was shot in the line of duty on Wednesday, February 26,
2014

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring, concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, remaining calm
under pressure, in an effort to preserve the life of another; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of human life are cherished values,
worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is proud to honor those
individuals who would serve to protect it; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor FDNY EMTs
Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alexander, in recognition of their heroic
actions in coming to the aid of an NYPD officer who was shot in the line
of duty on Wednesday, February 26, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Without hesitation or concern for their own safety, off-duty
FDNY EMTs Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alexander instinctually rushed to the
aid of an NYPD officer who had been shot in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, Their courageous and quick response accomplished with
distinctive bravery the life-saving treatment of this wounded police
officer; and
WHEREAS, Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alexander should be meritoriously
commended for showing valor and true courage while performing a lifesav-
ing deed; and
WHEREAS, In the performance of their duties, FDNY EMTs Khadijah Hall
and Shaun Alexander have demonstrated their character and compassion for
the welfare of others; they are both a tremendous asset to their EMS
Unit and should be commended by all citizens of the State and Nation;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an occa-
sion of such consummate heroism is brought to our attention, the same
should be memorialized for the edification and emulation of others; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor FDNY EMTs Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alexander, in recognition of
their heroic actions in coming to the aid of an NYPD officer who was
shot in the line of duty on Wednesday, February 26, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to FDNY EMTs Khadijah Hall and Shaun Alexander.
