LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lancaster, New York, native Jessica
McLaughlin upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character who have
inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with their
strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lancaster, New York, native Jessica McLaughlin upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Jessica McLaughlin was born in Lancaster, NY where she devel-
oped an interest in thunderstorms; eventually, her interest in weather
grew and she graduated from Lancaster High School in 2003 and then
continued on to SUNY Brockport; in 2007, she earned a B.S. degree in
Meteorology and a minor in Mathematics; and
WHEREAS, Later, Jessica McLaughlin would migrate to the Midwest to
work at a local news station in Iowa; while there, she experienced bliz-
zards, floods, and tornadoes, which led to many memorable experiences;
and
WHEREAS, Several times Jessica McLaughlin chased severe storms and
tornadoes, including one which broke flood stage records for the
Midwest; she and her news team were recognized for their excellent
coverage of this event; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Jessica McLaughlin witnessed her first tornado while
storm chasing with her father; after 12 hours of chasing, she was able
to spot an EF3 tornado; and
WHEREAS, Moving back to the area, Jessica McLaughlin has recently
accepted a new position as a meteorologist with Channel 7 News in
Buffalo; she is a true asset to society; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lancaster, New York, native Jessica McLaughlin upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jessica McLaughlin.
