LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Fiona Laird upon the occasion of her
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Fiona Laird
upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange County Interscholas-
tic Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Fiona Laird has distinguished
herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Fiona Laird, a student at Monroe-Woodbury High School in
Central Valley, New York, ranked 7th in her class and participated in
tennis, indoor track and spring track; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society, French Honor Society,
Treble Choir, and Lead Mentoring Program, Fiona Laird plans to attend
Boston University or the University of New Hampshire to major in Hospi-
tality and study French; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Fiona Laird has
brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Fiona Laird may stand with pride in her achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Fiona Laird represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Fiona Laird upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2014 OCIAA Scholar
Athlete, and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Fiona Laird.
