LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Manuj Goyal of Shaker High School
upon the occasion of his designation as Teenager of the Year by the
Colonie Elks Lodge

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS; Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Manuj Goyal of Shaker High School upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks Lodge; he will be
honored on Friday, May 23, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished, conscientious and active senior at Shaker
High School, Manuj Goyal has accumulated an impressive list of achieve-
ments during his outstanding high school career, maintaining a high
average while pursuing one of the school's most rigorous academic
programs; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated peer tutor in math, physics and chemistry, Manuj
Goyal also worked as a Research Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in Troy, New York, where he wrote articles for scientific
journals and conducted his own research project; and
WHEREAS, Manuj Goyal's extracurricular activities are equally impres-
sive; a four-year member of student government, he helped to establish
the Student Government Technology Advisory Committee, and is actively
involved with volunteer projects; in addition, he is the Editor-in-Chief
for his school newspaper and has created an online presence for the
publication; he is also a writer and the Art Director for his school's
literary magazine, as well as a member of the varsity tennis team; and
WHEREAS, Manuj Goyal was selected for this special honor because of
his strong academic performance, his service to the school, and his
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Manuj Goyal's sense of civic duty and his commitment to
others represents the best development of the potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Manuj Goyal of Shaker High School upon the occasion of his
designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks Lodge; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Manuj Goyal.
