LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charlie North upon the occasion of his
retirement after many years of distinguished service to the Dutchess
County Regional Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charlie North upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of
distinguished service to the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Charlie North rendered faithful, conscien-
tious and valuable service to the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Charlie North has led the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce for about two decades; he held the leadership post from 1992 to
1996, and has been back at the helm since 2000; he will step down from
the esteemed positions of Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer
at the end of 2014; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Chamber President and Chief Executive
Officer, Charlie North served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Charlie North, the Dutchess
County Regional Chamber of Commerce has grown in both membership and
programs and, in recent years, merged with the Greater Southern Dutchess
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Charlie North has committed years of hard work to improving
not only the business community, but the community as a whole; under his
able leadership, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce has
become one of the most dynamic organizations anywhere; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Charlie North was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Dutchess County Regional Chamber
of Commerce, Charlie North earned the admiration, esteem and affection
of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Charlie North over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charlie North upon the occasion of his retirement after many years
of distinguished service to the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Charlie North.
