LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the retirement of Dr. Jean Hudson,
Orange County Health Commissioner

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
retirement of Dr. Jean Hudson, Orange County Health Commissioner; and
WHEREAS, A native of England, Dr. Hudson has held the position of
Health Commissioner for 10 years; she has served in other public health
positions for a decade before and was in family practice for 20 years
before that; and
WHEREAS, Under Dr. Hudson's leadership, the health department formed
the Medical Reserve Corps, the Healthy Orange Initiative and worked on
outbreaks including the mumps with which she worked with the CDC; and
WHEREAS, Retiring at the end of May 2013, Dr. Hudson has had several
papers published about the difference to the way mumps outbreaks are
currently controlled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jean Hudson rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable
service to Orange County; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Orange County Health Commissioner, Dr.
Jean Hudson served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Dr. Jean Hudson was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with Orange County, Dr. Jean Hudson earned
the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Jean Hudson upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Jean Hudson.
