LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John D. Plumley upon the occasion of his
designation as Grand Marshal of the 2013 Camden Irish Parade

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals of true purpose and worthy accomplishment who work
diligently to preserve and celebrate their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
D. Plumley upon the occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal of the
2013 Camden Irish Parade; and
WHEREAS, In acknowledgement of this most prestigious appointment, John
"Jack" Plumley will have the honor of leading the 12th Annual Camden
Irish Parade on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Camden, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jack Plumley took office as Oneida County's sixth County
Executive in 1983, serving his first four-year term and worked in this
office until 1991; and
WHEREAS, Jack Plumley is a native and lifelong resident of Camden; a
well established businessman, he became engaged in a family hardware
store operation in 1944; and
WHEREAS, In 1959, Jack Plumley established a real estate business and
also established a residential and commercial construction firm, which
greatly contributed to the economic development of the Oneida County
area; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War,
Jack Plumley was selected as Citizen of the Year by the Greater Area of
Camden Chamber of Commerce in 1973; he has been a volunteer fireman for
more than 30 years as well as a member of various sportsmen's clubs; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Grand Marshal for the 2013 Camden Irish
Parade, Jack Plumley embodies the spirit and the cherished ideals and
values of Irish-Americans of this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John D. Plumley upon the occasion of his designation as Grand
Marshal of the 2013 Camden Irish Parade; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John D. Plumley.
