LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cadet Brennan P. Thierry upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the George C. Marshall Award

WHEREAS, The courage and preparedness of our military will ensure our
continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of democracy, and
as a defender of liberty for people throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
special tribute to those young people within the State of New York who
have distinguished themselves in their commitment to serving this State
and Nation as members of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cadet Brennan
P. Thierry upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
George C. Marshall Award at the Marshall Center, Virginia Military
Institute, Lexington, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Brennan P. Thierry, a senior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Insti-
tute in Troy, New York, is a cadet in the Reserve Officer Training Corps
(ROTC); and
WHEREAS, The George C. Marshall Award is the highest award a ROTC
cadet can attain; Cadet Brennan P. Thierry earned this most noteworthy
honor for being the outstanding senior in an Army Reserve Officer Train-
ing battalion in military science studies and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Brennan P. Thierry has distinguished himself as a young
man of superlative ability, establishing a high standard of excellence
and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Brennan P. Thierry, in earning this award, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence he brings to his family, the United States Armed Services, his
State and his Nation; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Cadet Brennan P. Thierry continued success throughout his
military career and, on behalf of all the citizens of this great Empire
State, to express our appreciation and eternal gratitude for his coura-
geous service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cadet Brennan P. Thierry upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the George C. Marshall Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cadet Brennan P. Thierry.
