LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lisa Buscaglia upon the occasion of her
designation by the Akron Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of its
2013 Citizen of the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Lisa Buscaglia upon the occasion of her designation by the Akron Chamber
of Commerce as the recipient of its 2013 Citizen of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Buscaglia will be honored by the Akron Chamber of
Commerce at its Annual Banquet on Thursday, May 9, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Buscaglia improves the quality of life for her students
in the Akron Central School District and therefore, ultimately the
community, by tirelessly giving them her time, energy, and love; educa-
tionally, she encourages students to stay in school and perform to the
best of their abilities, and helps them with homework and staying organ-
ized; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Buscaglia encourages students to talk to their teachers
when problems arise; her commitment to her students can be seen through-
out the day, whether it is providing students with a safe place to
decompress, food or clothing to those in need, or being a sounding board
for students with major concerns; and
WHEREAS, Going beyond the call of duty is not uncommon for many educa-
tors, but the degree and the extent of Lisa Buscaglia's dedication is
unmatched; she is a role model for her commitment to the community
through church and sports, and students look to her for guidance and
appreciate her calm demeanor when they are faced with specific conse-
quences; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Buscaglia has established several initiatives, one of
which is The Hope Foundation, a fund that is used for others in the
community who experience the hardships of life; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Lisa Buscaglia's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when the noble
aims and accomplishments of individuals such as Lisa Buscaglia are
brought to our attention it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and
commend them for the edification and emulation of others; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lisa Buscaglia upon the occasion of her designation by the Akron
Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of its 2013 Citizen of the Year
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lisa Buscaglia.
