LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Annual Wheels For Life
Bike-A-Thon in Cohocton, New York, on behalf of St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
certain events held to build support for charitable causes of signif-
icant societal concern; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 25th Annual Wheels For Life Bike-A-Thon in Cohocton, New York,
on behalf of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; and
WHEREAS, St Jude Children's Research Hospital is a comprehensive
center internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treat-
ment of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases; no
family ever pays to receive its services; and
WHEREAS, Devotedly coordinated by Margie Adams for the past 25 years,
the Annual Wheels for Life Bike-A-Thon in Cohocton has helped to raise
significant funds to help advance St. Jude's lifesaving mission of find-
ing cures and saving children; this support gives families affected by
life-threatening diseases much needed resources and more reasons to
hope; and
WHEREAS, Riders and walkers of all ages partake in this festive
affair; the Wheels For Life Bike-A-Thon also includes a picnic lunch,
tasty treats, face painting, prizes and other special activities to
engage participants and their families; and
WHEREAS, Since its inaugural event in 1988, the number of people who
participate as fundraisers in the Annual Wheels For Life Bike-A-Thon in
Cohocton has grown from approximately 20 to more than 125; many others
provide support as workers and event sponsors; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
altruistic individuals and organizations it wishes to acknowledge for
their philanthropic contributions to our society which enhance the basic
humanity among us all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Annual Wheels For Life Bike-A-Thon in Cohocton, New
York, on behalf of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Margie Adams, Coordinator, Wheels For Life in Cohocton.
