LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Denise Arbesu upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2013 Brooklyn's Woman of Distinction

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that women of every
economic, ethnic, and religious background have made significant
contributions to their community and to the State of New York, and that
it is appropriate to recognize them and to publicly acknowledge their
endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
outstanding women who make our world and our lives better; this Legisla-
tive Body is, therefore, pleased to recognize and commend Denise Arbesu,
Senior Vice President of Citibank, upon the occasion of her designation
as a 2013 Brooklyn's Woman of Distinction; and
WHEREAS, As an executive for Citibank Denise Arbesu is proud to help
others achieve their dreams by helping entrepreneurs secure financing
for their fledgling companies; and
WHEREAS, Currently the President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce,
Denise Arbesu has been an integral part of the Chamber for nearly 20
years; she has raised funds for numerous educational programs including
the Principal for a Day Program and for organizations such as the Ameri-
can Lung Association; and
WHEREAS, In addition, as one of the Chamber's top officials, Denise
Arbesu advocates for Brooklynites by collaborating with local busi-
nesses, entrepreneurs, civic leaders and elected officials to articulate
the needs of the business community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to extend its high-
est commendation to Denise Arbesu in recognition and appreciation of her
exemplary personal and professional achievements and for her contrib-
utions to her community and to the community of the State of New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Denise Arbesu upon the occasion of her designation as a 2013
Brooklyn's Woman of Distinction; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Denise Arbesu.
