LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the efforts of the Cristian Rivera
Foundation for its continuing efforts to raise awareness of and fight
against malignant brain tumors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the efforts of the Cristian Rivera Foundation for its continuing efforts
to raise awareness of and fight against malignant brain tumors; and
WHEREAS, Cristian Rivera, the namesake of the Cristian Rivera Founda-
tion, lost the fight against Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) at
the age of six; and
WHEREAS, DIPG is a malignant brain tumor that affects the brain stem;
only children are afflicted with DIPG; it is usually diagnosed in chil-
dren between the ages of five and nine; and
WHEREAS, The Cristian Rivera Foundation is a non-profit organization
that donates all money raised to hospitals and foundations actively
researching cures for DIPG through medical trials and scientific
research; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Cristian Rivera Foundation is also to
increase public awareness and understanding of DIPG; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
organizations such as the Cristian Rivera Foundation, which serve to
bring people together for the united purpose of actively pursuing
improvements in their communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the efforts of the Cristian Rivera Foundation for its continuing
efforts to raise awareness of and fight against malignant brain tumors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Cristian Rivera Foundation.
