LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Freeport boys basketball Coach Bob
DeBonis upon the occasion of his 300th career victory

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which actions are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Freeport boys basketball Coach Bob DeBonis upon the occasion of his
300th career victory; and
WHEREAS, On Monday, January 21, 2013, Freeport coach Bob DeBonis
earned the 300th win of his 24-year career with Freeport's 64-53 boys
basketball victory over Carey High School in the George Emma Classic;
and
WHEREAS, Serving 21 years at Freeport, Coach Bob DeBonis is to be
commended for his efforts in working to support a proud tradition of
public education by providing his fine skills and talents to Freeport
High School; and
WHEREAS, Coach Bob DeBonis' positive demeanor, selfless commitment,
and caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach
and mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his communi-
ty, his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Freeport boys basketball Coach Bob DeBonis upon the occa-
sion of his 300th career victory; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Freeport boys basketball Coach Bob DeBonis.
