LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Barba-
dos Cancer Association USA (BACA), Inc. to be celebrated on June 13,
2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
organizations and individuals that work to serve the health care needs
of citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 10th Anniversary of the Barbados Cancer Association USA
(BACA), Inc. to be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, 2015, aboard The
Golden Sunshine in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event will enhance the well-being and vitali-
ty of the Barbados and Caribbean communities by bringing a greater
awareness of health issues to residents; and
WHEREAS, The Barbados Cancer Association USA (BACA), Inc. is a commu-
nity based not-for-profit organization dedicated to minimizing the
impact of cancer on Barbados and Caribbean communities in the United
States by promoting prevention, early detection, and prompt treatment of
cancer in these populations; and
WHEREAS, This worthy organization's mission is to provide assistance
to relevant public and private sector programs in the procurement of
appropriate equipment and supplies, provide funding for relevant cancer
research and continuing cancer education activities for targeted health-
care professionals, provide public education and support materials
related to healthy lifestyles/prevention and screening/early detection
and treatment, as well as provide funding of cancer support services;
and
WHEREAS, BACA was established in 2005 as a philanthropic not-for-pro-
fit organization whose members are drawn primarily from among the Barba-
dian community in the United States; the organization accepts sponsor-
ships and donations, and holds fundraising activities to support its
programs; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of the
Barbados Cancer Association USA (BACA), Inc. in providing excellence in
care through prevention, education and treatment, and its evident
commitment to this mission; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
organizations within the State of New York which provide outstanding
medical care and vital services to meet the healthcare needs of its
members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Barbados Cancer Association USA
(BACA), Inc. to be celebrated on June 13, 2015, fully confident that it
will continue to play a leadership role in healthcare for many years to
come; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Barbados Cancer Association USA (BACA), Inc.
