LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Earl Zimmerman upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Ann Marie Sheehy Bright Horizons
Award by the Colonie Senior Service Centers
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Earl Zimmerman has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Earl
Zimmerman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Ann
Marie Sheehy Bright Horizons Award by the Colonie Senior Service
Centers; this momentous occasion was celebrated at its 13th Annual
Founders' Awards Dinner on Monday, October 20, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) is a nonprofit,
community-based senior service organization serving seniors and their
families throughout the Capital Region for the past 30 years; each year
the Founders' Award Dinner honors six businesses and community leaders
who reflect the commitment, vision and leadership exemplified by the
founders of CSSC; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Zimmerman has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, After earning his Medical degree from the University of Penn-
sylvania, Dr. Earl Zimmerman completed his Internship, Residency and
Fellowship programs at Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Zimmerman is a renowned Neurologist at Albany
Medical Center and Director of its Alzheimer's Center; he has dedicated
much of his illustrious career to providing care for those with
Alzheimer's disease and other aging disorders; and
WHEREAS, Specializing in behavioral neurology, specifically memory
loss, confusion, Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, and neurodegener-
ative diseases, Dr. Earl Zimmerman has a unique ability to comprehen-
sively diagnose, treat, and manage these conditions; and
WHEREAS, As Director of the Alzheimer's Center and Director of Clin-
ical Research for the Neurosciences Institute, Dr. Earl Zimmerman is
widely recognized for his clinical research centered on Alzheimer's
disease; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dr. Earl Zimmerman's research efforts culminated
in the establishment of the Neurosciences Advanced Imaging Research
Center (NRC) and Alzheimer's Center at Albany Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Zimmerman's patients are a significant element to
his research; his approach to patient care is one where he guides
patients and their families through the disease every step of the way;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Earl Zimmerman has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Earl Zimmerman has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Earl Zimmerman upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the Ann Marie Sheehy Bright Horizons Award by the Colonie Senior
Service Centers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Earl Zimmerman.
