LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending ex-Chief Peter Maslinski upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition after 30 years of
dedicated service to the North Lindenhurst Fire Department

WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout the
Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the arduous
field of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend ex-Chief Peter
Maslinski upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 30 years of dedicated service to the North Lindenhurst Fire
Department, to be celebrated at its 58th Annual Installation Dinner on
Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the East Wind Caterers in Wading River, New
York; and
WHEREAS, In November 1982, Peter Maslinski joined the North Linden-
hurst Fire Department; due to relocation outside of the North Linden-
hurst Fire District, he resigned in 1988, but returned and rejoined the
department in 1990; currently, he serves as a Captain of Hook, Ladder,
and Engine Company No. 3; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Peter Maslinski has held several line officer
positions including Captain, Deputy Chief, and 1st Deputy Chief; in
December of 2000, he was elected Chief of Department, a position he held
until December of 2002; and
WHEREAS, Peter Maslinski has been a member of numerous committees
which included membership, a new truck, and various merit awards; since
1995, he has served as the Scott Pak Training Officer; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Peter Maslinski was a member of the Piston
Knockers Drill Team when they captured the New York State Championship
in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Peter Maslinski has fulfilled the responsibility of maintain-
ing the training and safety of all the North Lindenhurst Fire Department
members; his commitment to safety was magnified by the September 11,
2001, tragedy when he was employed by the FDNY, working diligently to
assist in saving the lives of those in danger; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Peter
Maslinski is such a firefighter; throughout 30 years of devoted service,
this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call of duty,
those responsibilities which define the task of fire protection; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend ex-Chief Peter Maslinski upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition after 30 years of dedicated service to the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to ex-Chief Peter Maslinski.
