LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Capital
District SuSu Women's Club on April 25, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 20th Anniversary of the Capital District SuSu Women's Club, to
be celebrated at its Annual Gala on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the
Albany Marriott, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1994, the Capital District SuSu Women's Club
is primarily made up of women from the African Diaspora with a major
goal of maintaining the African grassroots tradition of investing in the
economic and social arenas, and incorporating the proceedings into the
modern financial structure; and
WHEREAS, One of the leading women's organizations in the Capital
District, SuSu Women's Club annually hosts its Gala and Fundraising
Event to honor selected members of the community and to raise essential
funds to help support worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, since its inception, funds raised have been
utilized to provide scholarships to two high school seniors already
accepted at a college or university, as well as a grant for a selected
educational project in Africa or the Caribbean via an established organ-
ization in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Capital District SuSu Women's Club is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, past and present,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impres-
sive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard
of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Capital
District SuSu Women's Club; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Capital District SuSu Women's
Club on April 25, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Capital District SuSu Women's Club.
