LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins upon the
occasion of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary

WHEREAS, Dale Watkins and Marie Nowicki were united in marriage on June
27, 1964, at St. Mary's Church; and
WHEREAS, Dale Watkins pursued his undergraduate degree at State Teach-
ers College in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, completing his graduate work at
Syracuse University and Elmira College, and earning his master's degree
from SUNY Potsdam and his administration certificate from St. Lawrence
University; and
WHEREAS, Dale Watkins was employed as a building principal and
district administrator of the Gouverneur and Indian River Central School
Districts, as well as an adjunct professor for Potsdam student teachers;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dale Watkins is a past president of the Phila-
delphia Civic League and the Indian River Kiwanis Club, a board member
of the Philadelphia Historical Society and the Childs Falls Cemetery
Board, and has been active in choral groups and community theater
productions, and taught safe driving classes for AARP; and
WHEREAS, Marie Watkins attended Geneseo State Teachers College,
completing her master's degree at SUNY Potsdam; and
WHEREAS, Marie Watkins is a past president of the Jefferson County
American Association of University Women, and an active church member,
as well as active with the Philadelphia Red Hatters and the Philadelphia
Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins began their professional education
careers as teachers for the Corning-Painted Post Schools, and retired
with a combined 75 years in service to public education; and
WHEREAS, In their retirement, they have been active in their church,
as election poll inspectors, past docents for the Thompson Park Conser-
vancy New York State Zoo, and enjoy gardening, traveling and spending
time with their daughter, Amy, son-in-law Colonel Timothy Lunderman, and
their two granddaughters; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins are and always have been a tower of
strength, support, understanding and limitless love for their family;
and
WHEREAS, Their love, devotion, caring, sensitivity and responsiveness
to their family, friends and all who know them are their hallmark and
tradition; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins have lived and continue to live
their lives with great dignity and genuine grace, always demonstrating a
deep and continuing concern for human values and ideals, and in so
doing, they have inspired others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, This meaningful occasion is the result of the love, hard work
and spirit that this couple has invested in their marriage; and
WHEREAS, They have passed these same values to their loved ones,
producing a family that is close-knit and supportive of its individual
members, public-minded in its relations to the community and committed
to the ideals of citizenship upon which this Nation was founded; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins have touched the lives of their
family and many friends through the shining example of their marriage,
which is a testament to the devotion and admiration which they possess
for one another; and
WHEREAS, The longevity of this enduring marriage truly marks a mile-
stone in life's journey, an event of personal triumph and joy; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an occa-
sion of such importance is brought to our attention, the same should be

memorialized by us for the edification and emulation of others; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins upon the occasion of celebrating
their 50th Wedding Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watkins.
