LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alexa Reickert upon the occasion of
being named an Outstanding Student by the Capital District YMCA on April
28, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alexa Reickert upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding Student
by the Capital District YMCA, at its 18th Annual Student and Educator
Awards Breakfast Reception, on April 28, 2015, at the Appel Inn, Alta-
mont, New York; and
WHEREAS, This commendation honors high school students and educators
from Guilderland, Voorheesville, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, and
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High Schools; 15 students and 3 educators are
selected as overall winners for their dedication to service in their
schools, community, and local YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Alexa Reickert is currently a sophomore at Bethlehem Central
High School; this exceptional young woman is extremely dedicated in
giving back to both her school and her community; and
WHEREAS, Alexa Reickert has participated in various volunteer activ-
ities such as working at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, New York,
and as an enthusiastic member of the Bethlehem Youth Court, an alterna-
tive to criminal and family court for young offenders age 10-19 who have
committed a first-time, low-level offense or crime in the Town of Beth-
lehem; and
WHEREAS, This past year, Alexa Reickert and fellow members of her
church's high school youth group traveled to Washington D.C.; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Alexa Reickert represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Alexa Reickert continued success throughout her school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alexa Reickert upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding
Student by the Capital District YMCA on April 28, 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alexa Reickert.
