LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Libby Post upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Distinguished Alumna in Political
Science Award by the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Libby Post has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Libby Post
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Distinguished
Alumna in Political Science Award by the Rockefeller College of Public
Affairs & Policy, to be celebrated at its 2015 Alumni Dinner and Awards
Ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2015, at the New York State Museum, Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy
honors individuals such as Libby Post, for their outstanding contrib-
utions in the areas of political science, public administration, leader-
ship, and continuing professional development; and
WHEREAS, Libby Post earned both a Bachelor's degree and Master's
degree in Political Science at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs
& Policy at the State University of New York at Albany; and
WHEREAS, For numerous years, Libby Post has been involved in politics
in various capacities, such as a member of the Student Association of
the State University, participating in a Fellowship with the Center for
Women in Government, managing electoral campaigns; and
WHEREAS, Libby Post is best known for her role in founding the Empire
State Pride Agenda as well as her unique political analysis on WAMC's
"The Roundtable"; and
WHEREAS, Since 1984, Libby Post has owned and operated Communication
Services, a company which specializes in political/advocacy consulting,
strategic communication, branding and marketing; and
WHEREAS, The majority of Libby Post's advocacy work is with New York's
public library; since 2005, her success rate of winning library budget
and funding votes, redistricting efforts and building referendums is
over 80 percent; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman travels throughout the country training
public libraries trustees in the art of advocacy and campaign planning;
for her dedicated efforts, she has been named to the American Library
Association's Committee on Library Advocacy, and has been nominated to
serve on United for Libraries Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Libby Post is also passionate about animal welfare; current-
ly, she holds the position of Executive Director of the New York State
Protection Federation, which represents the state's humane societies,
SPCAs, and municipal animal shelters; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her loving spouse, Lynn
Dunning-Vaughn, and one son, Alex Vaughn, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Libby Post has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Libby Post has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Libby Post upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Distinguished Alumna in Political Science Award by the Rockefeller
College of Public Affairs & Policy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Libby Post.
