LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Honorable Anthony V.
Cardona Award by the Albany's Children Center

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Honorable Anthony V. Cardona Award by the Albany's
Children Center, to be celebrated with "An Evening of Taste" on Thurs-
day, April 30, 2015, in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi, recently retired from New
York State Supreme Court, will receive this auspicious award for his
outstanding work representing the Office of Court Administration in
negotiations with Albany County regarding the Court facilities project,
and for his generous advocacy of the Albany Children's Center; due to
his exemplary leadership, when the new Albany County Family Court was
built, the Children's Center space was included and improved dramat-
ically, allowing the Center to better provide for the children; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi was elected to the
esteemed position of Justice for the Albany County Supreme Court in the
3rd Judicial District of New York; he was re-elected in 2007, before
officially retiring on June 26, 2014; and
WHEREAS, In 1968, The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi earned his Bachelor
of Science degree in Accounting from Boston College, and his Juris
Doctor degree from the Albany School of Law in 1971; and
WHEREAS, In 1972, The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi began his illustrious
career as an Associate to the Law Office of Paul T. Devane, Esq., a
position he held until 1973; for the next 20 years, he served as an
Albany County Public Defender; and
WHEREAS, From 1973 to 1993, The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi practiced
with numerous law firms including Ainsworth, Sullivan, Tracy, Knauf,
Warner, and Ruslander; and
WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding citizens of New York State who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Our local governments, our State and our Nation have been
strengthened by generations of Americans who felt a sense of responsi-
bility to their community, to one another and to their families; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of the Honorable Anthony V. Cardona Award by the
Albany's Children Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Joseph C. Teresi.
