LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Theresa Space upon the occasion of
her induction into the 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward
Institute

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Theresa Space upon the occasion of her induction into the 2014
Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute, which was celebrated
at its Induction Ceremony on September 27, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An important figure in the history of the SS Seward Institute
Athletics Program, Theresa Space, Class of 2006, had an outstanding
athletic career with the Lady Seward Spartans; as an eighth grader, she
made the varsity teams in soccer, basketball, and softball; and
WHEREAS, During her illustrious high school soccer career, Theresa
Space finished with a school record of 157 goals, which led her to be
chosen by the New York State Writers Association for their first-team in
2006; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Theresa Space was awarded Most Valuable Player
(MVP) on her basketball team for multiple years; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Space's five-year softball career ended with an
impressive .655 batting average, as well as several defensive awards for
her play in the infield; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating from high school, Theresa Space earned a
bachelor's degree from SUNY Albany; and
WHEREAS, Today, Theresa Space is an associate with the River Front
Insurance Company in Watervliet, New York; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Theresa Space provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Space has clearly been an inspiration to the youth of
the SS Seward Institute, as well as to the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our students
and our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Theresa Space upon the occasion of her induction into the
2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Theresa Space.
