LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Matthew Rumenapp upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Epilepsy Foundation of
Northeastern New York
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize and publicly acknowl-
edge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us
all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Matthew
Rumenapp upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York which was celebrated at
its annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Wolferts
Roost Country Club in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation is to stop seizures
and SUDEP, find a cure and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy
through efforts including education, advocacy and research to accelerate
ideas into therapies; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Rumenapp is the 7-year old son of Amy and Derrick
Rumenapp; he has one sister, Megan, and is a 2nd grader at St. Jude the
Apostle Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed young man loves drawing, playing
with Legos, riding his quad and singing; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Rumenapp was diagnosed with Doose Syndrome when he
was two years old; he failed five different anti-convulsants before
starting the Ketogenic Diet; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Rumenapp showed immense bravery and never complained
during the two years he was on the Ketogenic Diet; his seizures are now
controlled and he is no longer on the diet; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Matthew Rumenapp upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Matthew Rumenapp.
