LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim May 10-16, 2015, as Nursing Home Week in the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious organizations of the State of New York whose purposeful endeavors
serve to enhance the quality of life for the cherished senior citizens
in their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize Governor
Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 10-16, 2015, as Nursing Home Week in the
State of New York, in conjunction with the observance of National Nurs-
ing Home Week; and
WHEREAS, New York is stronger because we honor and respect our elders,
and citizens of any age with physical or intellectual disabilities, who
reside at a skilled nursing or post-acute care center throughout the
State; and
WHEREAS, These citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Skilled nursing centers are holding events in observance of
National Nursing Home Week May 10-16, 2015, using this year's theme of
"Bring on the Fiesta" and guided by the American Health Care Association
and the New York State Health Facilities Association; and
WHEREAS, All citizens are encouraged to visit a loved one, friend, or
neighbor being cared for in any setting, and to offer a kind word and a
personal touch to show their continuing support; and
WHEREAS, New York is committed to quality health care and a contin-
uously improving quality of life; this Legislative Body is proud to
embrace the spirit of "Bring on the Fiesta" and to wish all residents,
patients, caregivers, staff and visitors to skilled nursing centers a
week-long festival of "family, life, and love"; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 10-16, 2015, as
Nursing Home Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York.
