LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carly Lawless upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2015 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Carly Lawless
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2015 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Carly Lawless has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Carly Lawless, a student at James I. O'Neill High School, is
ranked 12th in her class with a 96.42 GPA; she also played volleyball
and softball; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society, Youth in Government,
the Beacon Extreme Travel Softball Team and a lifeguard, Carly Lawless
has plans to attend SUNY Oswego or the University of Scranton and major
in Childhood Education; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Carly Lawless
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Carly Lawless may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Carly Lawless represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carly Lawless upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2015 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carly Lawless.
