LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Palmyra Village Police Officer Brian
Parkison, in recognition of his heroic action in saving the life of an
unconscious man
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring, concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, remaining calm
under pressure, in an effort to preserve the life of another; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of human life are cherished values,
worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is proud to honor an indi-
vidual who would serve to protect it; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Palmyra
Village Police Officer Brian Parkison, in recognition of his heroic
action in saving the life of an unconscious man; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, November 22, 2014; Police Officer Brian Parki-
son, and his partner, Adam Husk, responded to a call for an individual
who was unconscious and not breathing; instinctually they used their
skills and administered lifesaving methods, which prevented the man from
possible death; and
WHEREAS, Surrounded by members of the community, friends and family,
Police Officer Brian Parkison was presented with an esteemed award on
Monday, December 15, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Brian Parkison of Sodus, New York, was born on May 31, 1986,
in Newark, New Jersey; he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal
Justice, and was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves, and
the 914th CES Niagara Falls ARS; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Brian Parkison is a four year veteran of the
Palmyra Village Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Brian Parkison should be meritoriously
commended for remaining calm under pressure and for his proficiency
while performing a lifesaving deed; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jennifer, and their
son, Brayden, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Through his spontaneous and heroic actions, Police Officer
Brian Parkison demonstrated his character and his compassion for the
welfare of others, personifying, by virtue of his actions, the collec-
tive concern of ordinary citizens across the community of New York State
who respond without the thought of danger or reward when others are in
need of help; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Palmyra Village Police Officer, Brian Parkison in recognition of
his heroic action in saving the life of an unconscious man on Saturday,
November 22, 2014 ; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Palmyra Village Police Officer Brian Parkison.
