LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gerard M. Kapsiak upon the occasion of
his retirement after 25 years of distinguished service as Town Engineer
in Hamburg, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Gerard M. Kapsiak upon the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of
distinguished service as Town Engineer in Hamburg, New York; he offi-
cially retired on Wednesday, April 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Gerard M. Kapsiak rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Hamburg; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious tenure, Gerard M. Kapsiak worked dili-
gently to manage Hamburg's water and sewer districts; he also oversaw
the Engineering Department's design of the expansion of the town golf
course from 9 to 18 holes, and the extension of water access to every
residential property in town; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Gerard M. Kapsiak has worked diligently on both
the establishment of quiet zones at railroad crossings, and the depart-
ment reviews of site plans for commercial projects and subdivisions; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed engineer's efforts were integral
in the design and installation of the clock tower on Route 5 in 2012;
and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Gerard M. Kapsiak was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
he has earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service as Town
Engineer, a period of constructive involvement, Gerard M. Kapsiak has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gerard M. Kapsiak upon the occasion of his retirement after 25
years of distinguished service as Town Engineer in Hamburg, New York,
and to wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gerard M. Kapsiak.
