LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sydney Newsome upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2015 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sydney Newsome
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2015 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Sydney Newsome has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Sydney Newsome, a student at Chester High School, is ranked
1st in her class with a 99.31 GPA; she also played on the soccer team;
and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society and the Varsity Club,
Sydney Newsome plans to attend college and major in biomedical engineer-
ing; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Sydney Newsome
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Sydney Newsome may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Sydney Newsome represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sydney Newsome upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2015 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sydney Newsome.
