LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Ogdensburg Odyssey of the Mind Team
"OMG," for their success at the Regional and State Championships, as
well as their achievement of participating in the World Finals

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ogdensburg
Odyssey of the Mind Team "OMG" for their success at the Regional and
State Championships, as well as their achievement of participating in
the World Finals; and
WHEREAS, The student team members include: Ellie Foster, Brinley
Frederick, Emma LeBeau, Paige Merz, Sadie O'Neil, Sloane Ryan, and Paige
Shaver; Head Coach Matthew Shaver and Assistant Coaches Stacey Foster
and Rima Mahoney; and
WHEREAS, After placing first in the Regional Competition, Team OMG
took second place at the New York State Competition on April 11, 2015,
in Division II for Problem 2: Experiencing Technical Difficulties; and
WHEREAS, Their success at the New York State Competition gave them the
opportunity to compete at World Finals in East Lansing, Michigan, at
Michigan State University May 20-23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, At the World Finals, Team OMG competed against nearly 50
teams and placed 25th in the competition; and
WHEREAS, The team's trip to the World Finals marked a major milestone
for their school, as the Ogdensburg City School District had not been
represented at the competition since 1998; and
WHEREAS, Through hard work, creativity, dedication and imaginative
ideas, Team OMG and its coaching staff achieved great success, making
their school, families and community proud; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ogdensburg Odyssey of the Mind Team OMG student team members Ellie
Foster, Brinley Frederick, Emma LeBeau, Paige Merz, Sadie O'Neil, Sloane
Ryan, and Paige Shaver; Head Coach Matthew Shaver and Assistant Coaches
Stacey Foster and Rima Mahoney for their success at the Regional and
State Championships, as well as their achievement of participating in
the World Finals; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ellie Foster, Brinley Frederick, Emma LeBeau, Paige Merz,
Sadie O'Neil, Sloane Ryan, Paige Shaver, Matthew Shaver, Stacey Foster
and Rima Mahoney.
