LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ballet Tech upon the occasion of host-
ing its Opening Night of Kids Dance on Thursday, June 11, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention to
individuals and organizations that devote their time and energies to the
cultural enrichment of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in the performance of dance; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Ballet Tech upon the occasion of hosting its Opening Night of Kids Dance
on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Joyce Theater in New York, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Ballet Tech is a New York City public school offering its
students a quality academic education and intensive and rigorous ballet
training designed to develop professional dancers; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable academic institution provides training and
dance clothes to students in grades four through eight entirely free of
charge; unlike any other ballet school, the only criterion for enroll-
ment is innate ability; and
WHEREAS, Ballet Tech's Opening Night of Kids Dance will feature a
fabulous repertory from Eliot Feld, and includes the premiere of "A
Yankee Doodle," as well as exceptional dancing from the impeccably
trained student body; and
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; and
WHEREAS, The study of dance is most worthy of being encouraged and
promoted, as it provides an opportunity for students to exhibit their
skills to an audience, thereby giving them self-esteem to last a life-
time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ballet Tech upon the occasion of hosting its Opening Night of
Kids Dance on Thursday, June 11, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ballet Tech, New York, New York.
