LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the UB Smile Team upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Daniel Acker Community Service Award
by the Buffalo Branch of the NAACP on June 14, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary groups it wishes to recognize for their valued contrib-
utions to the success and progress of society and publicly acknowledge
their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the UB Smile
Team upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Daniel
Acker Community Service Award by the Buffalo Branch of the NAACP, to be
celebrated at its 100th Anniversary Dinner on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at
the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The UB Smile Team, from the University at Buffalo School of
Dental Medicine, promotes dental education and provides free care in
neighborhoods which lack adequate access to dental treatment; and
WHEREAS, In addition, during this vital organization's Annual Smile
Education Day, the UB Smile Team visits more than 100 local schools; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which the members of the UB Smile Team have
displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when groups of
such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the UB Smile Team upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the Daniel Acker Community Service Award by the Buffalo Branch of
the NAACP on June 14, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the UB Smile Team.
