LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 55th Anniversary of the Annual
Center for Disability Services Telethon on January 25, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the efforts
of organizations and individuals who bring vital attention and awareness
to important health issues which affect the lives of the citizens of our
great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 55th Anniversary of the Annual Center for Disability Services
Telethon on Saturday, January 25, 2015, at the Holiday Inn Albany and
broadcast live; and
WHEREAS, A community tradition for more than five decades, proceeds
from this auspicious event benefit the Center for Disability Services
and its divisions, Prospect Center in Queensbury and St. Margaret's
Center in Albany; and
WHEREAS, The Center for Disability Services stands true to its mission
to enable and empower people, primarily those with disabilities, to lead
healthy and enriched lives; and
WHEREAS, For more than 70 years, the Center for Disability Services
has been the place to turn to for innovative services and expert care
for individuals with disabilities and chronic medical conditions in the
Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary organization provides services to more
than 12,000 individuals, newborns to seniors, as well as their families,
at 85 locations throughout nine counties in Upstate New York; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated organizations such as the Center for Disability
Services serve as an invaluable and vital community resource, giving
voice to the needs of one of the most vulnerable populations in this
society and ensuring that individuals with disabilities have full access
to the best opportunities, leading to more independent lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quali-
ty of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and
organizations to be recognized for the significance of their contrib-
utions and efforts to assist others in developing the skills necessary
to be successful, productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 55th Anniversary of the Annual Center for Disability
Services Telethon on January 25, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Center for Disability Services.
