LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Victoria Lamas posthumously upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by the Lark Street
Business Improvement District
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals from this great Empire State who truly made
strong contributions to their communities and who inspired others
through their model citizenship; Victoria Lamas was one such individual
who died on May 29, 2015, at the age of 39; and
WHEREAS, Victoria "Maricris" Lamas was born on July 17, 1975, in Mexi-
co City, Mexico, the daughter of Celestino and Yolanda Lamas; after
leaving Mexico City, Victoria's family moved to San Diego, California,
before making Albany, New York, her home in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Lamas started her career as a restaurateur and would
live most of her adult life in Albany, including managing Bombers Burri-
to Bar and working with several dining establishments along Lark Street,
in addition to opening and co-owning Noche Lounge in Albany in the mid
2000s; and
WHEREAS, In the spirit of Lark Street, Victoria Lamas met some of the
most amazing friends, who would do anything for her; and
WHEREAS, The Lark Street Business Improvement District recognizes the
achievements of Victoria Lamas and has posthumously honored her tireless
efforts to keep vibrancy along Albany's "village in the city"; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Lamas leaves behind her adoring parents; her loving
older brothers, Celes, and Ben and his wife Rebecca; her loving older
sister, Yoly and her husband Joseph, as well as many loving nieces,
nephews, cousins, grandmother and other relatives, and countless
friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Victoria Lamas's life was a portrait of service, a legacy
which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comfort-
ing memory to all she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Victoria Lamas posthumously upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the Lark Street Business Improvement
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Victoria Lamas.
