LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley upon the
occasion of their selection for special recognition as the Honorary
Co-Chairs of Ellis Medicine's 2015 Winter Gala

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dr. Gary and
Kathy Dunkerley upon the occasion of their selection for special recog-
nition as the Honorary Co-Chairs of Ellis Medicine's 2015 Winter Gala,
to be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Glen Sanders Mansion,
Scotia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Dunkerley is a graduate of the Ellis School of Nursing;
now she has retired from nursing and she is an active volunteer in the
community, supporting various organizations including the Ladies of
Charity, Bethesda House, and the City Mission; and
WHEREAS, In 1975, Gary Dunkerley earned his medical degree from Hahne-
mann Medical College, and for three years he was a Resident at Hahnemann
Hospital; throughout his illustrious career he worked in private prac-
tice, and held faculty positions at two residency programs at Hahnemann
and County Memorial Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In 1981, Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley moved to Schenectady,
New York, where he obtained a faculty position in the Family Medicine
Department at St. Clare's Hospital; he remained involved with the Resi-
dency Program, assuming the positions of Associate Director, Chief of
Family Practice, Director of the Family Health Center, and ultimately
Program Director in 1994; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gary Dunkerley has also served as the Hospital's Director
of Medical Education; of the 300 program graduates, 205 have graduated
during his tenure; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley are the proud parents of five
children, and the loving grandparents of four grandchildren, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of their life and rejoice in their achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, As individuals who have truly gone above and beyond to serve
their community, Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley have made a difference not
only at Ellis Medicine, but in the Capital District region as a whole;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley upon the occasion of their
selection for special recognition as the Honorary Co-Chairs of Ellis
Medicine's 2015 Winter Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Gary and Kathy Dunkerley.
