LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 85th Anniversary of Austin's
School of Spa Technology on October 5, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 85th Anniversary of Austin's School of Spa Technology on Octo-
ber 5, 2015; and
WHEREAS, In 1930, Catherine M. Austin Motl established Austin's School
of Spa Technology, formerly known as Austin Beauty School, in Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Since Austin's School of Spa Technology's inception, it has
been the principal educator for beauty and spa professionals in the
capital district; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Faith Takes purchased Austin's School of Spa Tech-
nology; under her leadership, the renowned school has continued to honor
the Austin's contribution to the beauty trade in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Today, Austin's School of Spa Technology offers numerous
programs to its students including cosmetology, barbering, esthetics,
make-up artistry, nail technology and tattoo artistry; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, 250 students enrolled in the Albany location of
Austin's School of Spa Technology and 190 students have graduated in the
year thus far; and
WHEREAS, Austin's School of Spa Technology is proudly aware of its
distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to its
students and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for the
ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 85th Anniversary of Austin's School of Spa Technology on
October 5, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Faith Takes, Owner, Austin's School of Spa Technology.
