LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Burton L. Roslyn upon the occasion of
his retirement after 17 years of distinguished service as President of
Roslyn Consultants, LLC
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Burton L.
Roslyn upon the occasion of his retirement after 17 years of distin-
guished service as President of Roslyn Consultants, LLC; and
WHEREAS, Burton L. Roslyn, Fellow of the American Institute of Archi-
tects (FAIA), has served as President of Roslyn Consultants, LLC, since
its founding in 1999, and has been in practice since 1977; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the City College of New York, Burton L. Roslyn
is a registered architect in six states and has served as an adjunct
professor at the New York Institute of Technology's School in Site Plan-
ning, Contracts, and Real Estate since 2002; and
WHEREAS, His foremost accomplishment has been as advocate and practi-
tioner in the realm of alternative project delivery models, where his
tireless activism served as a catalyst for change in both the legisla-
tive and practice arenas; and
WHEREAS, As a leader of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and
the New York State Component (AIANYS), Burton L. Roslyn has spearheaded
initiatives which have redefined the role and perception of architects
in New York State, and through those efforts participated in taking a
leading role in the national dialogue on these issues; and
WHEREAS, Burton L. Roslyn has dedicated his practice to the develop-
ment of an atmosphere where the architect is recognized as the true
leader in the processes of design build and project management; and
WHEREAS, In his role as an educator and as a professional, he has
trained, mentored and educated his students, emerging professionals and
peers with the vision of elevating the architect's role in creating the
built environment; and
WHEREAS, Burton L. Roslyn's expertise in design build is recognized
nationally, where he has become a significant resource to the profession
and has delivered papers and published articles on architect led design
build and project management; and
WHEREAS, Elevated to Fellowship in 2011, Burton L. Roslyn has received
many awards, including certificates of appreciation awarded for service,
the prestigious Del Gaudio Award and a recognition award for public
service as a citizen architect by the AIA National Board of Directors;
and
WHEREAS, Involved within the AIA, Burton L. Roslyn has served as a
member of the National Board Knowledge Committee, Regional Represen-
tative on the Strategic Council, a member of the National Design Build
Knowledge Community, a member of the State Government Network Knowledge
Community Advisory Group and founding chair of the National Knowledge
Community Construction Contract Administration; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Burton L. Roslyn has served in a variety of posi-
tions within AIANYS, including President (2009), Vice President of
Government Affairs (2007), Secretary (2006), and Director/Trustee
(2003-06); and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Burton L. Roslyn serves as a Trustee
of the Shelter Rock Library, Past Commissioner of the Albertson Water
District, and Trustee, Advisory member and House Chairman of the Old
Westbury Hebrew Community; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Burton L. Roslyn was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems which
earned him the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Burton L. Roslyn upon the occasion of his retirement after 17
years of distinguished service as President of Roslyn Consultants, LLC;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Burton L. Roslyn.
