LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Ellen
Sinopoli Dance Company

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to organizations and individuals whose commitment and creative
talents contribute to the cultural enrichment, education and enter-
tainment of their community and the State of New York and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 25th Anniversary of the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company; this
auspicious occasion was celebrated on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the
Egg Center for the Performing Arts in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company was founded by Ellen Sinopo-
li in 1991 to provide quality performances and educational activities to
the people of the Capital District and beyond; and
WHEREAS, A talented and prolific choreographer, Ellen Sinopoli has
worked with the Arts Center of the Capital Region, Olana Partnership,
Saratoga City Ballet, Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and numerous other
regional organizations; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Ellen Sinopoli has served as the Coordinator of
Dance Programming at Russell Sage College, and has worked with the Alba-
ny, Berkshire, Saratoga, Guilderland and Ajkun Ballet Companies; she is
also a gifted teacher who has taught at Siena, Skidmore and Union
colleges; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and honors for her outstand-
ing service, Ellen Sinopoli was presented with the Arts Award from the
Albany/Schenectady League of Arts and the Educator of Excellence Award
from WTEN; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents a unique opportunity for this Legisla-
tive Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Ellen Sinopoli Dance
Company and its outstanding contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize impor-
tant milestones in the lives of those organizations and individuals
which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ellen Sinopoli, the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company.
