LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gail Driscoll Silke upon the occasion of
being selected as the 2016 Grand Marshal of the Northern Westchester-
Putnam 40th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their profession
and in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke will be honored as Grand Marshal of the
Northern Westchester-Putnam 40th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade during
a dinner to be held at the Centennial Golf Club on February 5, 2016; the
parade will be held on March 13th and is dedicated to Army Staff
Sergeant Jimmy McNaughton (Gold Star Families) and Sergeant Eddie Ryan,
USMC (Wounded Warriors); and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke was born to Patrick Driscoll and Letitia
Sullivan Driscoll; her paternal grandparents were from County Kerry and
her mother was born in County Kildare; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke attended the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula
High School and Grace Secretarial Institute; and
WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Gail Driscoll Silke has been employed
with Metro-North Railroad, and is currently serving as Manager of Envi-
ronmental Compliance; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke lost a brother, Stephen Driscoll, an NYPD
officer, in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001;
she has dedicated her life to remembering her brother and other victims
by visiting with injured Iraq War veterans and telling them about Steph-
en and by participating in design plans for the reflection pools at the
9/11 World Trade Center Memorial; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke is the band manager for the Stephen P.
Driscoll Memorial Pipe Band, has been an active member of the Knights of
Columbus Our Lady of the Lakes Council No. 6318 Ladies Auxiliary since
2011, and is currently serving as treasurer; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke and her loving husband, William, are the
proud parents of Billy and Christina Silke; and
WHEREAS, Gail Driscoll Silke is tirelessly dedicated to her community
and to her Irish heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gail Driscoll Silke upon the occasion of being selected as the
2016 Grand Marshal of the Northern Westchester-Putnam 40th Annual St.
Patrick's Day Parade; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gail Driscoll Silke.
