LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Thomas J. Gallagher upon the occasion
of his retirement after 39 years of distinguished service to the Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Albany County on September 11, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Thomas J. Gallagher upon the occasion of his retirement after 39 years
of distinguished service to the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany
County celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Century House,
Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, In July of 1976, Thomas J. Gallagher began his career as a
Cooperative Extension Agent for Cornell University; in this capacity, he
provided educational programming in dairy, livestock, farm management
and field crops; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, Thomas J. Gallagher became part of a three county
regional extension team, and subsequently, was bestowed more responsi-
bilities; for many summers, he has hosted inner city youth at the city
of Albany's farm to teach them about the connection between the food
they eat and the farms which produce it; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his work at the Cornell Cooperative Extension
of Albany County, Thomas J. Gallagher has also served as an Agricultural
Program Leader in Albany County from 1990-2012, and in Schenectady Coun-
ty from 1991-2003; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. Gallagher's research, educational programs, special
projects, and work with the Regional and National Agricultural Agents
Association has produced tremendous results for agricultural producers,
consumers and elected officials; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his stellar career, Thomas J. Gallagher has served
the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County with intelligence and
caring dedication, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the
duties of his position; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, Thomas J. Gallagher will be remembered for his honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Thomas J. Gallagher upon the occasion of his retirement after 39
years of distinguished service to the Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Albany County, and to wish him continued success in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas J. Gallagher.
