LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Albina St. Germain upon the occa-
sion of celebrating her 105th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Surrounded by family and friends, this remarkable woman cele-
brated her 105th birthday with a party held in her honor at St. Augus-
tine Church on February 6, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Albina Archambault was born on February 5, 1911; she grew up
on a farm in Moffitsville, New York, where she helped her family raise
both cattle and horses, as well as harvest vegetables from the garden,
apples from their orchards, and berries from the patches; and
WHEREAS, Life was not easy on the farm, but Albina Archambault and her
eight siblings were happy and enjoyed traveling to church with their
parents; and
WHEREAS, When Albina Archambault was 17, she moved to Troy, New York,
and worked as a waitress at a private school for girls; she loved to
visit the farm on her vacations and assist the close-knit family with
spring cleaning; and
WHEREAS, Albina Archambault met her future husband, David St. Germain
at a dance; the couple married in 1932, and joyously raised their daugh-
ter, Charlene, in Dannemora, New York, until David's death in 1962; and
WHEREAS, Eventually, Albina St. Germain moved to Plattsburgh, New
York, where she worked as a nurse's aide in the maternity department at
Physicians Hospital, now known as the University of Vermont Medical
Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work at the hospital, Albina St. Germain
volunteered her time and energies with the Retired Senior Volunteer
Program for four decades; and
WHEREAS, A truly compassionate and kind soul, Albina St. Germain made
quilts for victims of domestic violence and child abuse, sewed christen-
ing bibs for children at St. Peter's Parish, and helped feed patients at
the hospital; and
WHEREAS, One Christmas, Albina St. Germain and her friend made 100
mittens and winter hats in less than a month for the children at Cumber-
land Head Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Albina St. Germain has always enjoyed exploring and traveling
throughout the world; she especially loved Rome and Ireland; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with her feisty spirit and zest
for life, has inspired and enhanced the lives of her family and friends;
and
WHEREAS, Grateful for her loving family, Albina St. Germain lives with
her granddaughter Lu-Ann and her husband, Gordy Santor in South Platt-
surgh; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her daughter, Charlene, grand-
children, and great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
accomplishments
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, This beloved woman has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Albina St. Germain upon the occasion of celebrating her
105th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Albina St. Germain.
