LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sergeant Clifford J. Williams upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Chenango County Sher-
iff's Office Joseph J. Benenati, Jr. Award for Outstanding Dedication in
the Field of Law Enforcement and Corrections

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Sergeant Clifford J. Williams for their
valued contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant Clif-
ford J. Williams upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Chenango County Sheriff's Office Joseph J. Benenati, Jr. Award for
Outstanding Dedication in the Field of Law Enforcement and Corrections,
to be celebrated during the 2016 Sheriff's Annual Award Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, The Chenango County Sheriff's Office is recognizing Sergeant
Clifford J. Williams with this prestigious award in honor of retired
Sheriff Joseph J. Benenati, Jr. for his outstanding dedication in the
field of law enforcement and corrections; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Clifford J. Williams began his career with the
Chenango County Sheriff's Office nearly 13 years ago; prior to being
promoted in June of 2011 to Corrections Sergeant, in 2008 he served as a
General Topics Instructor; following his promotion, he was an Aerosol
Subject Restraint Instructor (2014) and a Defensive Tactics Instructor
(2015); and
WHEREAS, In addition, Sergeant Clifford J. Williams has been involved
in the Chenango County Sheriff's Office as Administrator of the Annual
Chenango County Basic Correctional Academy, Founding Member of the Sher-
iff's Office Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Training
Director for the Corrections Division; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Chenango County Sheriff's Office,
Sergeant Clifford J. Williams has received numerous letters of appreci-
ation, the Officer of the Month and the Officer of the Year Awards and
is responsible for designing and compiling the Sheriff's Office Annual
Report; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the Chenango County
Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Clifford J. Williams has distinguished
himself by his exemplary and outstanding performance on behalf of the
community he so faithfully and courageously serves; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of public servants, such as Sergeant
Clifford J. Williams, who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of order and the protection of others are worthy of the full
praise of this Legislative Body and the people of the State of New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Clifford J. Williams upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office Joseph J. Benena-
ti, Jr. Award for Outstanding Dedication in the Field of Law Enforcement
and Corrections; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sergeant Clifford J. Williams.
