LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kaila Helm upon the occasion of
earning first place in the Eastern Regional Junior Science and Humani-
ties Symposium on January 30, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Kaila Helm upon the occasion of earning first place in the Eastern
Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium on Saturday, January
30, 2016, in Burnt Hills, New York; and
WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation are worthy of praise and
support; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy, Kaila Helm was awarded
first place in the Behavioral Science category at the Eastern Regional
Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS); she will now advance to
the Upstate JSHS in March at the University at Albany; and
WHEREAS, In addition to this esteemed honor, Kaila Helm was accepted
into the Northeastern University Honors Program in recognition of her
exceptional scholastic and personal achievements; this renowned program
is a highly selective, full-tuition scholarship program limited to top
students in the enrolling class; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Kaila Helm has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, establishing a
high standard of academic excellence and purposefulness of life rarely
achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Kaila Helm, in achieving this high academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Kaila Helm, a young
woman and able scholar, recognizing the value of her labors and the
promise of her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kaila Helm upon the occasion of earning first place in the
Eastern Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium on January 30,
2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kaila Helm.
