LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Natalie Weinstein upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Achievers Award by the Long Island
Center for Business & Professional Women

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Natalie Wein-
stein upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Achievers
Award by the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women, to be
celebrated at its 37th Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at
the Fox Hollow, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women will
honor Natalie Weinstein with this auspicious award in recognition of her
extraordinary achievements and significant contributions in her field,
opening doors for others to foster a rise in business, the professions,
and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Natalie Weinstein, Allied ASID, IDS, is an accredited design-
er, acknowledged business leader, entrepreneur, author, media personal-
ity and motivational speaker; her interior design firm, Natalie Wein-
stein Design Associates, based in St. James, New York, has been creating
lifestyle changes in homes and public spaces, and decorating for count-
less clients since 1973; and
WHEREAS, In addition to quality residences, Natalie Weinstein is known
for her commercial installations, particularly catering facilities, car
dealerships and professional offices; and
WHEREAS, After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude from Queen's
College, Natalie Weinstein began her illustrious career as an educator
in the New York City public schools where she was one of three selected
to pioneer a non-graded primary program which gained national recogni-
tion; she later graduated from and became master teacher and executive
director of the Willsey Institute for Art and Interior Design where she
remained for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Natalie Weinstein's special interest in Long Island's history
and architecture is evidenced in her "Long Island Focus" feature in
HOUSE magazine which has fascinated readers for almost two decades;
currently, she is the interior design expert for WALK Radio 97.5FM, WKJY
98.3 and www.walkradio.com, as well as design consultant for the Peter
Andrews stores in Nassau and Suffolk Counties; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, Natalie Weinstein established the Natalie Weinstein
Home Decorating Club to help residents of Long Island live a better life
through good design; today more than 15,000 members attend her seminars,
and her club provides sources, tips and consultations to help "do it
yourselfers" throughout the tri-state area and online; and
WHEREAS, Natalie Weinstein earned the coveted Ernest L. Rothschild
Award from United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism for her steadfast
and unwavering commitment to volunteerism; in 2007, the St. James Cham-
ber of Commerce honored her with the first annual Spirit of St. James
Award for outstanding community service; and
WHEREAS, Named 2008 Woman of the Year by THE TIMES BEACON RECORD,
Natalie Weinstein was also elected one of "60 Over 60" Outstanding Long
Island Business Leaders; and

WHEREAS, Natalie Weinstein's fundraising endeavors for Contractors for
Kids, a Long Island based organization which aids the families of chil-
dren with catastrophic diseases, is ongoing at all her seminars and
events; in addition, her consignment shop, Uniquely Natalie, routinely
donates furniture to Habitat for Humanity and other organizations help-
ing people to return to their homes; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Natalie Weinstein has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Natalie Weinstein upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Achievers Award by the Long Island Center for Business &
Professional Women; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Natalie Weinstein.
